Our nursery grew out of our almost 40 years' experience growing vegetable and perennial gardens in a very challenging yard at the bottom of a hill, in the middle of a very cold valley near Binghamton, New York. Although on the USDA map, our area is Zone 5, in OUR yard, we had two separate zones: Zone 3 at the exposed back of the house and Zone 4 in the more protected front of the house. It was very frustrating to try to grow plants and shrubs which, on paper, looked to be hardy for our area but which consistently would be killed by the cold, drying winter winds at the back and sides of the house. We came to depend on extremely hardy shrubs and perennials which are consistent performers for us. We wanted to enjoy our garden, not worry about having to wrap up bushes every fall!

Now that our careers are winding down, we want to bring truly hardy shrubs and perennials to Central New York. We grow many of our own and also search all over the northern part of the United States and Canada to bring interesting and beautiful plants to enthusiastic gardeners in our area.Remember: Our conditions are some of the worst -- if something will grow successfully for us, then it will work for you, too!

Our plan is to have beautiful plants and shrubs for our customers at all growing seasons, with the nursery open from early May through Hallowe'en. We also plan special Holiday treats for you from early November through Christmas as well. In the end, we want everyone to enjoy and love their gardens! Keep an eye on this page for announcements of plant specials all through the gardening year.

June:

We'll be open every Saturday and Sunday during June. Don't forget about Dad, either -- Father's Day is June 18th. If Dad likes to cook, he'll appreciate the herb plant collections we've put together.

Here is a collection of some of  the plants we have for sale at the farm:
